Use the two screws from the old thumbturn to fix the provided mounting plate for the new lock to the deadbolt of the old lock. Optional step is to fix (in a case of larger bore hole and a gap behind the mounting plate) provided cover plate.

Tighten the screws by hand until the mounting plate is securely fixed against the door. Do not over-tighten the screws.

Out of the provided adapters, find the one that which best fits on the tail piece (one of the triangle nubs on the adapter should face up).

On the backside of the lock open the wing like two latches.

Align and slide the lock over the adapter and attach it to the mounting plate by clamping down the wing latches. By turning the outer ring of the lock, try if locking and unlocking of the door is smooth.

By pressing August logo on the face plate of the lock, release and remove the face plate.

Remove the plastic battery isolation tab from the batteries.

Place back the faceplate on the lock, with logo in the bottom.

Now download the August App from Apple / Google Play, depending on your phone’s OS (IOS or Android). Install the app on your phone and follow the instructions from the app (following is for Android phones) Sign in to your August account, or create one by choosing “Set up my first August device”
